Here is a quick blog showcasing my second trip to Maria near KEK. I got two cheap desserts this time.
The first one is a coffee latte jelly, where three separate layers are provided, along with a coffee macaron on top! The white layer is a nice milk jelly with about the same sweetness as standard whipped cream. The black layer is a barely sweet black coffee jelly, with the most bouncy/jello consistency out of the three. The third one was quite interesting. I don't know how else to describe it aside from a latte mousse jelly since it was the most creamy and least sweet out of the three jellies. Going in between the three layers was nice since the latte layer helped bring the sweetness way down, resetting my palette to continue enjoying the other two layers quite a bit. The mint leaf and coffee bean on top also helped quite a bit.
The second one is an almond croquant chou (apparently...). Basically, it was a pâte à choux log filled with a fresh egg custard. The outside texture was much crunchier than other cream puffs I've had which was quite nice. The custard was a bit sweeter than I wanted it to be but it still ended up being quite an enjoyable treat along side the coffee jelly.
If only I could get this in Blacksburg...
