Gentle Café Time


While on a walk, I was feeling a bit tired and not fully awake so I decided to stop by a café I had always passed by to give it a try. Today's place is Café Yasashii Toki (カフェやさしい時間). Although they had quite a few savory dishes like curries or omlettes, I wanted something that pairs well with their hand drip Costa Rican coffee. The coffee was quite gentle with a little bit of bitterness so pairing it with something a little sweet really compliments it well.


They had a hand made cake (手作りケーキ), which I think is a sponge cake, paired with an orange syrup, whipped cream, and strawberries. The cake itself was quite moist (so I'm wondering if it was soaked in anything like milk or if it's just a perfect cake) but still acted as a canvas so the syrup and other toppings could pair with it. I think the orange syrup would've benefited from more orange zest or peel to get more of a fragrance but it still was nice. The whipped cream was a little thin but the strawberry was enough to carry the rest the whipped cream.


Overall, a nice quaint experience and with a cafe full of personality. I linked their instagram page above and would encourage one to take a quick look!
